This is one of the lunettes above the windows in the Sistine Chapel. They all contain frescoes with ancestors of Jesus. This one shows Zorobabel (Zerubbabel), his son Abiud and Abiud's son Eliakim.

 

Michelangelo used the family tree as described by Matthew. It doesn't match genealogical information in the Old Testament.

 

One of the three men is depicted in the triangle above this lunette. The figures have not been identified.

 

Michelangelo also showed the previous generation, Josiah's family. According to Matthew, Josiah's grandson Shealtiel was Zerubbabel's father.

 

Zerubbabel was the leader of a group of exiled Jews that returned to Jerusalem from Babylon.
